St. Mary's, Addington |
An Addington church
St Mary's Church is uniquely positioned in the centre of Church Square, Addington, Christchurch.
A heritage church
Like its neighbourhood, St Mary's has undergone many changes, progressing from a small temporary church in an enclosed square to today's heritage building in its open and accessible grounds. To read the church's history, click here.
A welcoming community
We are a small, welcoming Christian community, who meet in the heritage church in Church Square. Music is one of our particular strengths. New Zealand songs, traditional hymns and songs from the Celtic and Taizé traditions enrich our Sunday morning Eucharist and evening prayer.A shared total ministry church
We are a total ministry church — we encourage everyone in the church to develop and use their own ministries, both inside and outside church. Total ministry churches are lead by their congregations, and all people share in running the church and its activities. To see some of the wide range of parish events, click here.
A church with strong links here and abroad
Parishioners actively support many Addington neighbourhood community service groups and the international development organisation Christian World Service.
